At pre-application stage, local authorities (LA) will often require a Heritage Assessment or a Statement of Significance to provide an appropriate level of information. The rational for preapplication advice is to seek guidance from the LA, who will need to have some background information to be able to achieve this affectively. In our experience, when clients wish to approach the LA for pre-application advice, a Heritage Assessment or a Statement of Significance saves time and money in the long run, and shows a willingness to collaborate to achieve the best outcome.
