Listed Building Surveys,
Development and Repair Advice

An understanding of how historic buildings are constructed and behaves is a vital part of any type of adaption, renovation or repair work. Historic fabric and materials behave, and are affected, differently to that of modern buildings and materials.

Before a programme of works are proposed, not matter how miner, it is important to understand how the works will affect areas of special architectural or historic interest, and to have full understanding of any heritage constraints. Efficient planning can save time and money in the long run.

In terms of design and development, Hubbard Conservation attend early design meetings on site with architects and design team to advise on the heritage constraints and perimeters.

We have also advised on a wide range of issues where the clients have, in all innocence, been unaware that previously conducted works should have been subjected to a Listed building Application. This has often caused great upset to the client, therefore at Hubbard Conservation we pride ourselves on helping the clients through the process. We help the clients to understand the requirements of the LA and guide them through the process. As a result, we produce a retrospective Listed Building Application to draw the matter to a conclusion.

The issue of repairs is a vast topic. This could be as minimal as repairing a sash window, to conducting major repairs to a full-timber framed building.
